Friedrichshafen / Garching near Munich, 30.09.2024. Matthias Benz will take office as Chairman of the Zeppelin Group Management Board on October 1, 2024. As planned, he will succeed Peter Gerstmann, who is leaving the company for a well-deserved retirement after 24 years with the company.

Matthias Benz has been a member of the Group Management Board since July 1, 2024. He will now officially take over as Chairman of the globally active Zeppelin Group on October 1.

“The past three months have been very informative, eventful and enriching for me. I had the opportunity to visit numerous national and international Zeppelin locations and not only to develop a feel for the market and the diverse company portfolio, but above all to get to know the backbone of this successful company: our committed and competent employees. I was deeply impressed by the open and very respectful exchange and the innovative impulses of our Zeppelin employees. From the very beginning, Peter Gerstmann was always at my side in close cooperation and trust, making him the best sparring partner I could have imagined. I wish him all the best for his upcoming retirement and I am very much looking forward to leading the Zeppelin Group into a successful future”, says Matthias Benz, new Chairman of the Group Management Board and CEO of the Zeppelin Group.

Following his departure from the Group Management Board, Peter Gerstmann will be available to Matthias Benz and the Supervisory Board in an advisory and supportive capacity until the end of the year. “It has been a great pleasure and honor to be a part of this great company for over 24 years. I have put my heart and soul, commitment and passion into shaping Zeppelin for almost 15 years in my role as Chairman of the Group Management Board and I am very proud of what we have achieved together during this time. It is and will continue to be a challenging and highly interesting task to lead a traditional foundation-owned company like Zeppelin through these eventful times. I am certain that in Matthias Benz we have found an experienced and highly competent manager who will continue this success story”, says Gerstmann.
