Group again receives accolades from Stern and Handelsblatt
Garching bei München, February 7, 2022. The Zeppelin Group is again one of the best employers in Germany in 2022. In the independent ranking by “Stern” magazine, the Group improved on its previous-year ranking and is among the leaders in the field, taking 23rd place in the overall ranking. The German financial newspaper “Handelsblatt” once again honored the Group as a “Fair Company”.
The Zeppelin Group is therefore one of the best employers in Germany again in 2022. In the “Stern” magazine’s annual ranking, which was published at the end of January 2022, the company achieved 23rd place in the overall rating, positioning it among the top-ranking best employers. Compared to 2021, Zeppelin rose 60 places in the ranking of the 650 companies included, all of which are recognized as above-average by “Stern”. “Handelsblatt”, initiator of “Fair Company”, also reaffirms that the Group in 2022 offers young people fair working conditions and development prospects.
Zeppelin once again significantly improved the good rankings it achieved in 2021 and 2020, taking second place in the Mechanical and Plant Engineering sector category, and fourth place in the Rail, Ship and Aircraft Construction sector.

The leading spot in the Stern ranking shows us that our numerous employer initiatives and offers are recognized and appreciated. Particularly while difficult COVID-19 conditions prevail, it is important to give our employees the greatest possible flexibility with respect to regulations on mobile working, for example. Sport and health services are also more important than ever. From diversity to corporate social responsibility to sustainability, as a ‘Fair Company’, we offer the best conditions and an attractive working environment. This is also demonstrated by the Handelsblatt award of the same name. For us it is self-evident that we will continue to create optimum conditions for all employees,” explains Alexandra Mebus, Labor Director and Managing Director of the Zeppelin Group.
The “Stern” ranking, which was prepared in cooperation with the market research institute Statista, considered companies with more than 500 employees and headquarters in Germany. The anonymous survey was conducted via online access panels, independent of the respondent’s employer. The questionnaire covered more than 50 topics including corporate culture, working environment and salary. The key question was whether employees would recommend their respective employer to others. The ranking includes 650 employers; in addition to an overall rating, the results were divided into 24 sectors.
As a diversified company, the Zeppelin Group appears in various sector categories.
“Fair Company” is a German employer initiative that pursues sustainable commitment to a fair working world. It is aimed specifically at career entrants and young professionals, and singles out companies that offer young people fair working conditions and development prospects. The initiative was founded by “Handelsblatt” in 2004. The Zeppelin Group has been a member since 2018.
In accordance with the procedure in place since 2020, admission is subject to a positive assessment by the Institut für Beschäftigung und Employability (Institute for Employment and Employability, IBE) in Ludwigshafen. Using a questionnaire specifically developed for the Fair Company Initiative, the IBE considers twelve aspects that are important to young professionals.
As well as awards from “Stern” and “Handelsblatt”, in 2021 the Zeppelin Group also received the “auditberufundamilie” seal (see our press release for more information) and was recognized by F.A.Z.-Institut as one of the “most sought-after employers in Germany”.
