Garching near Munich, August 8, 2024. Ecology, economy and social responsibility – in the 2023 financial year, the Zeppelin Group was once again committed to the various areas of sustainability. The company's developments and successes are recorded in the Zeppelin Sustainability Report 2023, which has once again been published as a digital version and is available online.
Last year, Zeppelin expanded its own sustainability strategy and set itself the goal of playing a central role in the transformation of relevant industries towards sustainable economic sectors. In order to live up to this claim, Zeppelin is constantly expanding its portfolio of sustainable products and services together with its partners, particularly Caterpillar. This includes, for example, machines and devices that are equipped with emission-free or low-emission drives. In addition, Zeppelin continues to focus intensively on innovative digital technologies that make it possible to save resources by increasing efficiency. In the area of plant engineering, the Group has initiated the "Zeppelin Sustainable Tire Alliance", to which all participants along the value and process chain contribute individual and technical expertise to drive forward the sustainable transformation.
"With our sustainability strategy, Zeppelin emphasizes that responsibility for a sustainable future does not end within our company. We want to be a driver of sustainable transformation in our industries by providing our customers with products, services and processes that add value for the environment, climate and employees. In doing so, we consistently pursue our own CSR goals and implement the necessary measures in a targeted manner, as demonstrated by our wide-ranging commitment in the past year," says Christian Dummler, CFO and the Group Managing Director responsible for CSR.
In view of Zeppelins sustainability targets, the goal of climate neutrality by 2030 remains an important focus of the Group’s CSR work. Thanks to numerous measures, such as the consistent progress made in converting the property locations to climate-neutral operation, Zeppelin was able to reduce CO2 emissions by around 6 percent last year and overall energy consumption by around 3 percent, while at the same time achieving economic growth. Zeppelin also reduced the amount of waste and fresh water consumption, in some cases considerably.
Zeppelin once again supported social projects and initiatives in the areas of sport, science, education and culture in 2023. The Group provided around 1.2 million euros in donations and more than 1.6 million euros in sponsorship for this purpose. Safety and the reduction of accidents at work are also an integral part of the measures for greater sustainability at Zeppelin. Various offers and initiatives as well as the promotion of diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities increase employee satisfaction, as an internal company survey shows.
