Reinhold Messner, a living legend in mountaineering, has conquered all eight-thousand-meter peaks and was the first person to summit Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen. But the South Tyrolean is much more than an extreme athlete – he has been a passionate advocate for nature conservation throughout his life.
As a guest at the 2024 CSR Week, Messner offered Zeppelin employees fresh insights into sustainability. In his inspiring lecture and subsequent panel discussion, the 80-year-old shared unique experiences and drew fascinating parallels to everyday life and the workplace. Zeppelin employees learned firsthand what it takes to tackle extreme expeditions: trust, conviction, and a clear plan – qualities that are just as essential in the business world. Messner also emphasized the importance of handling setbacks constructively, noting that only by seeing failures as valuable learning opportunities can we draw sustainable conclusions.
